HSIAO-LAN RODGERS
Hsiao-Lan Rodgers is an artist and free verse poet who resides in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. She holds a dedicated career in health care since the year of 2004. She adores mother nature who offers an endless amount of wisdom, appreciates Buddhism and spiritual teachings; her only religion is compassion.
Poetry has been a part of her for the most part of her life. Hsiao-Lan writes with real stories, genuine emotions and authentic rawness. It was the obstacles in life taking her on an journey of art where she has found passion, and a way to embrace creativity. With absolute freedom, she presents herself as the creator, the observer, the speaker and the listener.
All acrylic pouring creations are made by using various poured-acrylic techniques, with the pouring medium she has constituted herself; such process does not require paintbrushes and generally takes at least several weeks to complete. She caresses a strange appreciation for imperfections; depending on the piece, there are moments she would offer it a smooth-finished surface, or purposely create ripples, bumps and cracks; all existence have its own purpose. The true symbolism is not up to her to comprehend.
Marker illustrations, a form of intricate artwork based on spontaneously chosen, made dots, shapes and lines, by using various types of marker. It begins with a little seed of thought, without any firm planning, eventually what comes through at the end, is simply what it is meant to be. Every single piece made, is completely personal; for the rest, it is an opportunity to contemplate.
Do not analyze. What you perceive from these creations is merely a mirror; what reflects on you is your own truth and reality. Humbly,
Hsiao-Lan Rodgers
